Lynx and Raptors, Spain
A week in the Toledo region of Spain with 4.5 days photography and an easy travel day at either end of the visit. The main targets for this trip are the elusive Iberian Lynx and a good variety of birds of prey including Goshawk, Marsh harrier, Griffon and Black vultures, Spanish imperial eagle and Red kite. You will be transported to a different hide each day where the raptors appear for their daily feed. The 2 days spent at the lynx hides usually require much more patience, where several hours of absence and inactivity is to be expected. There is a healthy population in the area so chances of sightings are high and when they do show they usually settle and pose beautifully around the hides.
Equipment: The subjects can be very close, often just a few meters away, so lenses of between 300mm and 400mm should achieve great results for most of the hides especially when trying to obtain flight shots of the larger birds. Larger fixed lenses are not really useful and I solely used my 100-500mm on my previous visit. You don't need a tripod, only the head which is then attached to a table top tripod supplied at the hides.
